Where Pain Comes From - Abraham-Hicks

Any time you have physical discomfort of any kind, whether you call it emotional, or physical pain within your body, it always, always means the same thing: "I have a desire that is summoning Energy, but I have a belief that is not allowing so I've created resistance in my body." The solution, every single time, to the releasing of discomfort, or pain -- is the relaxation and the reaching for the feeling of relief.

The Three Steps to Whatever You Want to Be, Do, or Have

The creative process is conceptually a simple one. It consists of just three steps:
  • Step 1 (your work): You ask.
  • Step 2 (not your work): The answer is given.
  • Step 3 (your work): The answer, which has been given, must be received or allowed (you have to let it in).

The Quality of Your Consiousness at This Moment

When you are on a journey, it is certainly helpful to know where you are going or at least the general direction in which you are moving, but don’t forget: the only thing that is ultimately real about your journey is the step that you are taking at this moment. That’s all there ever is.

Your life’s journey has an outer purpose and an inner purpose. The outer purpose is to arrive at your goal or destination, to accomplish what you set out to do, to achieve this or that, which of course, implies future. But if your destination, or the steps you are going to take in the future, take up so much of your attention that they become more important to you than the step you are taking now, then you completely miss the journey’s inner purpose, which has nothing to do with where you are going or what you are doing, but everything to do with the quality of your consciousness at this moment.

The outer purpose belongs to the horizontal dimension of space and time; the inner purpose concerns a deepening of your Being in the vertical dimensions of the timeless Now. Your outer journey may contain a million steps; your inner journey only has one; the step you are taking right now. As you become more deeply aware of this one step, you realize that it already contains within itself all the other steps as well as the destination. This one step then becomes transformed into an expression of perfection, an act of great beauty and quality. It will have taken you into the Being, and the light of Being will shine through it. This is both the purpose and the fulfillment of your inner journey, the journey into yourself.

Growth and Experience -- The Now

"In the fullness of 'now', one discovers unconditional reality. This is the 'real time' of the soul, and the soul's real life. Every other experience is simply a challenge, a distraction, or an opportunity to re-establish one's sense of value in a new situation. If you would like to know the true age of your soul, ask not how much time has passed since your birth or how many adventures your soul has passed through. Ask instead, how familiar are you with 'real time' in comparison with the passing events of life? How easy is it for you to know that all is 'now'? How easy is it for you to BE NOW in the midst of chaos?"

From a Dear Friend...

God created you for a purpose, sweet lamb, and maintains you and leads you, nourishing you with spiritual ideas that reveal each step. "Perfect Love casteth out fear" because God is Love, and fear is only a suggestion --- think of it, all that terror and fright and anxiety about the world, the economy, health, the environment, politics, your own children, all of it, simply a proposition that God is not in control. Jesus always handled fear first when he did his healing work, so did Mrs. Eddy, and low and behold, when the fear is gone, the problem is gone, because the chaotic situation never has been true. And your thought -- your consciousness -- is not at the mercy of suggestive currents that propose this chaos but is pure, and desires and hears the truth, the "still small voice" speaking to you, in detail, and in ways you understand, assuring you that goodness is real, that there is no power opposed to God, Love. There aren't two powers battling all the time. Just one power, infinite Love, and you are the perfect expression of that good power, because it created you and loves you and yours and always will. This is true, now. It is more than a nice thought. It is power.

The Guest House -- by Rumi

This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they're a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.

Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.

Susannah's Trust Question

Is it possible to simultaneously TRUST the process of life AND notice that you still have 3rd dimensional "trust issues"? Sometimes I feel like I'm getting on a roller coaster with part of me knowing I'm going to be absolutely fine, and part of me feeling like I'm going to die.

(On a related side note, as I was feeling this question bubble up this morning, I landed on a random web page with the quote: "Can you trust what you see in the mirror?" Ah....my favorite subject: Jung, shadows, projection....).

My What-Is Need Not Influence My What-Is-Becoming. . .

What-is has no bearing on what is coming unless you are continually regurgitating the story of what is. By thinking and speaking more of how you really want your life to be, you allow what you are currently living to be the jumping-off place for so much more. But if you speak predominantly of what-is, then you still jump off—but you jump off into more of the same.

Witness - by Denise Levertov

Sometimes the mountain
is hidden from me in veils
of cloud, sometimes
I am hidden from the mountain
in veils of inattention, apathy, fatigue,
when I forget or refuse to go
down to the shore or a few yards
up the road, on a clear day,
to reconfirm
that witnessing presence.

Prayer from The Keys of Jeshua

O Eternal Light,
Shine into our hearts;
Help us to have patience with everything unresolved,
And strive to love the process of living.
Steer our course to where the mind is without fear
And the head is held high
To where knowledge is free,
To where the world has not been broken
Into fragments by narrow walls,
To where words come from the depths of truth,
To where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way,
To where the heart is led forward by ever widening
Circles of love.
Eternal Wisdom,
Scatter our ignorance,
That we may see the truth in each present moment
And live our way into fulfillment.

Amen

See the Blanket Truth All the Time

Joy Versus Happiness - Gary Zukav & Linda Francis

Happiness happens when you get what you want. But if you lose what you want, you’re in pain. That’s not joy. Joy is recognizing that the universe really is wise and compassionate and that there really is purpose in your life and in the lives of all others. Joy is ignited inside of you. It’s not dependent on what occurs outside of you. Happiness is. Your joy shows you the loving parts of your personality and your pain, when you have the courage to experience it rather than exploding in anger or withdrawing emotionally or smoking or eating or watching TV or going shopping again, or engaging in any of the obsessive, compulsive, addictive behaviors that all of us are familiar with.

The frightened parts of us can come up in the blink of an eye. And we must challenge them as quickly as we can or we’ll take their perspective and feel like a victim. The strength of our commitment to spiritual growth is tested time and time again.

This is where emotional awareness and responsible choice enter the picture. When the frightened parts do come up, you can experience their pain, recognize them, and still not be controlled by them.

On Joy and Sorrow - Kahlil Gibran

Your joy is your sorrow unmasked.
And the selfsame well from which your laughter rises was oftentimes filled with your tears.
And how else can it be?
The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain.
Is not the cup that holds your wine the very cup that was burned in the potter's oven?
And is not the lute that soothes your spirit, the very wood that was hollowed with knives?
When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find it is only that which has given you sorrow that is giving you joy.
When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.

Some of you say, "Joy is greater thar sorrow," and others say, "Nay, sorrow is the greater."
But I say unto you, they are inseparable.
Together they come, and when one sits, alone with you at your board, remember that the other is asleep upon your bed.

Verily you are suspended like scales between your sorrow and your joy.
Only when you are empty are you at standstill and balanced.
When the treasure-keeper lifts you to weigh his gold and his silver, needs must your joy or your sorrow rise or fall.

Hawk Symbolism

In representation to humanity, the hawk is called messenger, protector and visionary. Keen vision is one of its greatest gifts. Hawks see things others miss.

The hawk comes to you indicating that you are now awakening to your soul purpose, your reason for being here. It can teach you how to fly high while keeping yourself connected to the ground.

As you rise to a higher level, your psychic energies are awakening and the hawk can help you to keep those senses in balance. Its message for you is to be open to hope and new ideas, to extend the vision of your life.

The Hawk is an animal of flight. It soars through the air looking down, and sees everything. It has a larger perspective of what is going on down below. With its keen eyesight, it looks down as it soars through the air looking for its prey. It can see the smallest of creatures below.

The Hawk is known as a messenger, similar to the planet Mercury, for the hawk soars close to the Grandfather Sun, as does the planet. When you listen to the power of the Grandfather Sun or Wise Spirit that lives within, you are protected from all types of harm.

The Hawk teaches you to be observant and take a close look at your surroundings. It soars with the power to overcome difficult situations. It soars in circles over the life of the earth, asking you to circle over your life and view it from a higher perspective.

The Hawk has a distinct cry, one that most people are aware of. Its cry signifies awareness. If you hear the cry of the hawk use your intuitive ability to discern the message and seek the truth.

If a hawk has soared into your life, you require a higher perspective. You need to see the details of what is going on and look at the bigger picture. Take a look at your situation from above.

Joy Reveals My Purpose

"Discovery of purpose is a continuous activity, and revelation of it is an ongoing process. We each live this process every day as we listen to life and shape our destiny. If there were any shortcuts to finding your purpose they would consist of establishing priorities, dedication, and satisfaction; and last but not least, joy. Wherever there is joy, there is purpose. The most fortunate people on earth are those who have found a calling that is bigger than they are, a reason for living that moves them and fills their lives with constant passion, aliveness, and growth. Your soul's true purpose is to be the love that you are!"

Native American Code of Ethics

1. Rise with the sun to pray. Pray alone. Pray often. The Great Spirit will listen, if you only speak.

2. Be tolerant of those who are lost on their path. Ignorance, conceit, anger, jealousy and greed stem from a lost soul. Pray that they will find guidance.

3. Search for yourself, by yourself. Do not allow others to make your path for you. It is your road and yours alone. Others may walk it with you, but no one can walk it for you.

4. Treat the guests in your home with much consideration. Serve them the best food, give them the best bed and treat them with respect and honor.

5. Do not take what is not yours whether from a person, a community, the wilderness or from a culture. It was not earned nor given. It is not yours.

6. Respect all things that are placed upon this earth - whether it be people or plant.

7. Honor other people's thoughts, wishes and words. Never interrupt another or mock or rudely mimic them. Allow each person the right to personal expression.

8. Never speak of others in a bad way. The negative energy that you put out into the universe will multiply when it returns to you.

9. All persons make mistakes. And all mistakes can be forgiven.

10. Bad thoughts cause illness of the mind, body and spirit. Practice optimism.

11. Nature is not FOR us, it is a PART of us. They are part of your worldly family.

12. Children are the seeds of our future. Plant love in their hearts and water them with wisdom and life's lessons. When they are grown, give them space to grow.

13. Avoid hurting the hearts of others. The poison of your pain will return to you.

14. Be truthful at all times. Honesty is the test of one’s will within this universe.

15. Keep yourself balanced. Your Mental self, Spiritual self, Emotional self, and Physical self - all need to be strong, pure and healthy. Work out the body to strengthen the mind. Grow rich in spirit to cure emotional ails.

16. Make conscious decisions as to who you will be and how you will react. Be responsible for your own actions.

17. Respect the privacy and personal space of others. Do not touch the personal property of others - especially sacred and religious objects. This is forbidden.

18. Be true to yourself first. You cannot nurture and help others if you cannot nurture and help yourself first.

19. Respect others religious beliefs. Do not force your belief on others.

20. Share your good fortune with others. Participate in charity.

Angels Among Us

A few mornings ago, my daughter was in her room, awake, but still lying in bed. She yelled, "Mom, I just saw an angel!" When I came in the room, she was smiling really big, and I asked her to describe what it looked like, and she told me it was a white ball in front of her. I sat down on the bed with her, and continuing to smile, she said, "Mom, have you ever had the feeling when you first woke up that you didn't like your mom and dad?" I briefly shared with her how I connected with that feeling, and then she continued, "I felt that feeling, and then I asked my angels to help me, and that's when the angel appeared, and that feeling went away." Then she went on to say, "Mom, let's ask the angels to help you see them. She proceeded to lead me to quiet down and breathe for a second, and then told me to look over towards the window. I connect with angels more on a feeling level, so while I didn't see anything with my physical eyes, in that moment I paused and took in the feeling....

St. Teresa's Prayer

May today there be peace within.

May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be.

May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.

May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you....

May you be content knowing you are a child of God....

Let this presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love.

It is there for each and every one of us.

Spiritual Windowshoppers -- A Poem by Rumi

These spiritual windowshoppers,

who idly ask, 'How much is that?' Oh, I'm just looking.

They handle a hundred items and put them down,

shadows with no capital.

What is spent is love, and two eyes wet with weeping.

But these walk into a shop,

and their whole lives pass suddenly in that moment,

in that shop.

Where did you go? "Nowhere."

What did you have to eat? "Nothing much."

Even if you don't know what you want,

buy something, to be part of the exchanging flow.

Start a huge, foolish project, like Noah.

It makes absolutely no difference what people think of you.

Heartache - A Poem by Rumi

Learn from the Prophet an alchemy: Whatever God gives you, be content.

At the very moment you become content in affliction, the door of paradise will open.

If the messenger of heartache comes to you, embrace him like a friend!

A cruelty that comes from the Beloved -- bestow upon it a warm welcome!

Then that heartache can throw off its veil, rain down sugar, and be gentle and heart-ravishing.

Seize the edge of heartache's veil, for she is beautiful but deceptive.

In this lane, I am the whoremonger, I -- I have pulled off the veil from every beautiful face.

They all put on ugly veils so that you will think they are dragons.

But I am fed up with my spirit -- I worship dragons! If you are fed up with your spirit, then hear their calls of welcome!

Heartache can never find me without laughter -- I call the pain the "cure."

Nothing is more blessed than heartache, for its reward has no end.

If you do not show your manliness, you will find nothing. I will be silent, lest a mistake jump from my mouth.

Quote from 'Invisible Acts of Power' by Caroline Myss

These are several "universal truths" according to Caroline Myss from her book Invisible Acts of Power:
  • You are where you are supposed to be and in every moment there is an opportunity to serve another or to receive support.
  • There are no such things as coincidences or accidents. Look for the meaning in your synchronistic encounters.
  • Any form of assistance you offer is an act of healing.
  • Anything you do for others, as well as the support you receive in your own life, has healing consequences for the whole human community.
  • You will always receive help within a second of a prayer. To recognize the help, you must see everything in your life from that second on as a part of the answer to your prayer.
  • Everything you do consciously is an invisible act of power.
